If you’re going to Equifest for a spectacular equestrian event, full of fun, competition, displays and shopping, follow these 10 top tips to make sure your visit is one to remember.

Held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, August 12 to 16, Equifest promises to be action packed with great showing, celebrities and brilliant demonstrations.

  1. The new demonstration arena will host an array of great displays including para dressage Olympic gold medallist Natasha Baker, Parelli Natural Horsemanship and the exciting Dog and Duck. Don’t miss out on well known riders and trainers sharing their tips and advice on how to get to the top of their chosen sport.
  2. Attend an evening performance. These showing spectacles really are special to be involved in and showcase the finest talent from the showing classes at Equifest each day. They run daily apart from Sunday and the times vary so check the website.
  3. Enjoy some retail therapy by taking advantage of more than 100 trade stands, spread over the indoor and outdoor complex. All trade stands are open for 12 hours each day.
  4. Equifest is one of the largest events in the equestrian calendar, so make sure you allow enough time to make the most of this extravaganza! It is billed as the ‘Festival for Horse Lovers’ so make sure you bring along your horsey friends and family.
  5. For dog lovers, make sure you watch the ‘Dog and Duck’ display, involving sheepdogs herding ducks. It’s sure to bring great entertainment and should be quite useful too! And for your dog the Companion Dog Show takes place on the Sunday.
  6. Visit the Parelli trade stand to receive expert advice on Natural Horsemanship techniques, philosophies and methods.
  7. Don’t miss Natasha Baker double paralympic gold medallist. She will be riding on the Saturday and Sunday and is set to be very inspiring and enlightening.
  8. If you need advice on feeding your horse, visit one of the feed trade stands where there will be expert nutritionists ready to help.
  9. On Sunday, there will be a great afternoon performance instead of the evening schedule and this will feature Shetland Racing, Horseball and the Heavy Horse championship.

10. Why not make the most of this fantastic equestrian show over more than one day and stay the night? The East of England Showground has 2,000 hotel beds available within a 15 mile radius. There is also a good selection of B&B options around the city of Peterborough.
