Jojo Charman & Tia Greenwood both successfully achieved the 1st4sport Level 2 certificate in Equestrian Coaching (General Riding) during their degree in Equine Performance at WCUC in November 2021, and was awarded to them in a celebration ceremony last week with other successful students, presented by subject lead Donna Allen at the Moreton Morrell College campus.

The 1st4sport Level 2 certificate is a nationally recognised accreditation, and now means that Jojo and Tia are fully endorsed Equestrian Coaches. Jojo shared a few words with us about her experience and what her next steps are:

“I am currently at a yard in Gloucestershire working and training for my BHS Stage 3 to register as BHS Accredited Professional Coach. However, with my 1st for Sport Level 2 I have been allowed to coach as it provided me with an industry recognised qualification, which enabled me to obtain insurance for working safety in the equine industry.

“I would recommend the full degree course at WCUC for the simple reason it gives you both academic and industry qualifications. It gives you theory and practical skills to coach successfully in the industry. It is taught by people who work and have coached in different disciplines, which gives you different points of view outside of just eventing, show jumping and dressage”

Tia is now working as a riding instructor at Regal Equestrian and at the horse trekking centre Soho House, near Banbury.
