Makers of the classic mash products Speedi-Beet and Fibre-Beet, British Horse Feeds has teamed up with the charity Hope Pastures to offer their support.

Before Hope Pastures, it was formally known as the Phyllis Harvey Horse and Donkey Trust based in Leeds. This was started by Phyllis M Harvey who devoted her life rescuing stray/ill cats, dogs, horses and donkeys. In 1974 Phyllis set up a Trust and now after her death, her legacy lives on through Hope Pastures.

This small, hardworking and dedicated charity uses donations to prevent suffering and save horses/ponies and donkeys lives. The organisation rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes wherever possible and some of the ponies stay on as loveable residents.

With a highly committed team of passionate supporters, volunteers, staff and trustees who all commit their time to help the animals, the charity is able to continue its work.

As well as saving the animals the organisation also provides an environment for young people to come and learn about how to look after horses and ponies and also educating them about animal welfare and social responsibility.

Because of the location being in the city of Leeds, it provides people with the opportunity who do not normally get the chance to see horses or ponies which is great. Hope Pastures also run therapeutic visits for a range of groups.

Kim Pengelly of Hope Pastures commented: “As a charity we are extremely thankful for all the donations we receive, and it is great that British Horse Feeds has come on board as a sponsor.

“Without all the support it would be difficult for Hope Pastures to continue changing the lives of neglected horses and ponies lives for the better. As a charity we always endeavour to do our best to care for these animals.”

Hatti I’Anson of British Horse Feeds added: “Hope Pastures is a fantastic charity that is local to us and we felt it was important to support this wonderful organisation to continue their special work.”
