Equine students from Brooksby College have been doing their bit to fundraise and promote inclusivity in the Equine industry this past academic year, running two events to raise money for the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Organisation).
The students, who studied Level 3 Equine Management at Brooksby, put on a Christmas Show and a Valentines Show, raising £185.79 overall for the charity.
The students took the lead in every part of the process, including planning, promotion, delivery, creating resources, student engagement and post-event reviews.
Student, Isla Green, she said ‘I’m extremely grateful to have had the chance to plan and produce a successful equine show at Brooksby. I felt it was an extremely fulfilling opportunity with the proceedings donated to the RDA charity. We believed the RDA should be acknowledged and thanked for their work as they promote inclusivity within the equestrian community.’
Olivia Swinbourne, Equine Lecturer at Brooksby College, added: ‘As the assessor for this year’s Managing Equine Events module, I observed students face a variety of real-world challenges—from tight deadlines and logistical complications to adapting under pressure. While some had prior experience, many were navigating event planning for the first time. Despite these hurdles, the group demonstrated resilience and professionalism, ultimately delivering two successful events. Their efforts raised £185.97 for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), and the feedback from attendees was highly positive. Each student showed clear development in their practical skills, confidence, and problem-solving abilities—outcomes that reflect the core aims of the module and will benefit them in their future careers.’
