Two new mares and a filly have joined the small and exclusive band of broodmares at Waverley Stud in Warwickshire.

Well known for breeding top quality youngsters aimed at the highest level in the world of dressage, Waverley Stud, owned and run by Sara Longworth, provides foals to British and International dressage riders.

Said Sara: “We are keen to grow the number of mares we have at Waverley Stud, if we can find the right candidates.  This means outstanding individuals in their own right (conformation, character and breeding history), but also outstanding families where a high percentage of the horses therein have achieved real success in sport or breeding.

“We are thrilled with these new additions and can’t wait for their foals which will arrive this Spring.  Breeding with these bloodlines and adding to the success of these families – fingers crossed – also presents a tremendously exciting challenge!”

Lady Sunshine is an Elite Oldenburg mare by Sandro Hit x De Niro x Pik Bube.  This is the damline of Feinbrand and Blue Horse Zee Me Blue.  It has produced more than 10 Elite mares and 21 licensed stallions in the last three generations, amongst them Furst Wilhelm, Decamerone, Dream Catcher, Jazzmate, Sohn der Sonne, Rubin Extra, La Piko S, Touch of Love, Furst Love and Sir Diamond - the Grand Prix licensed stallion who is full brother to Lady Sunshine.  Lady Sunshine is in foal to Furstenball for the third time as her first two foals were so exceptional (selling for in excess of Euros 30,000 in Oldenburg).

Royal Romantic is a Rhodiamant x Donnerhall x Figaro mare in foal to Danciano.   Out of 45 individuals in the mareline, 13 have licensed as Dressage or Showjumping stallions.  Her maternal grandmother produced two licensed stallions and eight horses successful in sport at PSG or above.  Her mother produced only Elite or State Premium mares and all Royal Romantic’s children who are old enough are progressing in dressage.

The mother’s, grandmothers, and great grandmothers of both mares have all been awarded Elite status due to their breeding achievements.

Waverley Stud has also acquired a Totilas x Donnerhall x Pik Bube Oldenburg Premium filly to breed from in the future.  Not only is this a truly world class stallion pedigree, but the motherline is also pure gold.  Not only was the mother bred by Groenwolhdhof where Donnerhall stood, but this is the dam line of more than a hundred licensed stallions including Lord Leatherdale, Tailormade Lacoste, Sprehe’s Bernay and Lord Ferragamo.  From the immediate family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins comes the Oldenburg Champion Mare of 1994, Hallo, and the licensed stallions Prinz Miro, Prinz Oldenburg, Pik Ramiro and Zalabaster (the Blue Horse Premium stallion which came third in the Oldenburg licensing last November 2014).
