Travelling with our horses to either competitions, a day on the beach or simply going for a lesson at another yard often means endless packing and taking huge amounts of equipment with you.

Most horse boxes and trailers now have clever storage spaces, but naturally we like to over pack and there isn’t always enough room.

A clever tip from leading feed brand British Horse Feeds is to take either Speedi-Beet or Fibre-Beet to reduce the amount of hay you would need, keeping more free space.

Why is this?

Because horse owners can feed Speedi-Beet or Fibre-Beet as a forage replacer (up to 60% of the daily forage allowance) which results in being able to take less hay or  haylage for the journey.

Also these specialised feeds improve energy intake whilst keeping dietary fibre levels at an optimum providing slow release energy without the ‘fizz’, ideal whilst you are away.

Another added bonus is that these mashes are hydrating. At the end of a day’s competition or fun galloping at the seaside, horses or ponies will need to keep their fluid levels up. In some cases not all horses and ponies like to drink when they are out and about.

By feeding Speedi-Beet or Fibre-Beet which expands and holds water, owners can rest assured that their horses and ponies are taking on water. To hydrate further adding extra water to make it more of a sloppier consistency works too.

AND, Speedi-Beet and Fibre-Beet are so easy to make up thanks to British Horse Feeds patented cooking process. Speedi-Beet will be ready in just 10 minutes and Fibre-Beet in 45 minutes with cold water.
