Caesars Palace took the Show Hunter Championship at HOYS last year after winning the middleweight section.
Explains Robert: “We first caught sight of him at the Royal Dublin Horse Show. His owner Jill Day had seen him and wanted us to take a closer look. You could see he was a star even as a two-year-old and he went on to be Youngstock Champion at this prestigious show.
“Like all top class show horses he just has that ‘look at me’ attitude that horses are born with. You can improve them in many ways but they have to stand out from the rest in a class and attract the judge’s attention.
The impressive six-year-old, with a grand stature standing nearly 17hh never fails to catch the eye, with the Emperor Augustus gelding oozing quality and combining fabulous conformation with effortless movement and a captivating gallop.
But what are the secrets behind his dazzling presentation each time he enters the ring?

To take the championship at HOYS as a five-year-old was no mean feat and Robert was thrilled with his performance.
The team used a combination of eight products to create what Robert described as an “amazing shine and immaculate finish.”
Caesar was bathed in Supreme Products High Shine Shampoo, which is perfect for use on dark coloured coats. It is great for use throughout the season to remove product accumulation and leave the coat looking fresh and gleaming show after show.
Once bathed Supreme Products De Luxe Coat Gloss was sprayed on to his coat to produce an overall ‘base’ shine. It can be used on wet or dry coats and is great for ensuring all the hairs are laid flat in preparation for finishing products.
Robert’s Top Tip: Be sure to leave the saddle area clear of the spray, to avoid it become slippery.
To create the perfect plaits the team used Supreme Products Easy Plait to prepare Caesars mane. Beautifully clean manes can easily slip through hands but this product is great for helping to give a firm grip and hold plaits securely in place. Even better it is non-greasy and non-sticky!
It is essential that hooves shine too! Rob’s team used Supreme Products Hoof Paint on clean, dry hooves the night before the competition. It is a water based product, preventing it from drying out the hooves and stays vivid and shiny whatever the weather.
On the day of his class the team used Supreme Products Spray & Shine to create the ultimate finish. It is ideal for sunny days and those special evening performances at HOYS when the coat will catch the light giving an impressive effect.
Robert’s Top Tip: Apply sparingly using a soft cloth rather than direct application to avoid unwanted marks and streaks.
To accentuate quality legs and bone, the team then used Supreme Products Glistening Oil to give a flawless shine. It is also effective for highlighting the horse’s best features and can be used on the muzzle and around the eyes to emphasize dark areas. Alternatively, Supreme Products Highlighter Gloss can be used to enhance and produce a gleaming finish.
For a show-stopping mane and tail and finishing touch before entering the arena, Robert’s team used Supreme Products Sparkle for luxurious, full bodied tails and all over shine. This is sprayed direct from the can to create a gorgeous impression.
