As equestrian businesses around the country start to feel the effects of the global COVID-19 crisis Shearwater Insurance have realised that many businesses are entering ‘survival mode’ and many freelance workers are starting to feel the pinch.
Instructors & Riders
For those instructors and coaches who are looking for reassurance if they return to work Shearwater have advised that “as long as coaches are operating within Government guidelines and are observing social distancing rules there is no reason for their instructor’s insurance to not be effective.”
The same is being said for riders who are continuing to ride. With questions being asked as to whether personal accident insurance is still able to offer cover, the answer is yes. All the time that riders are acting within Government guidelines, and riding is a permitted activity, Shearwater’s personal accident policies will still remain current and effective.
Business Essentials Policy
Together with owners Global Risk Partners (GRP), Shearwater Insurance have developed a heavily discounted insurance proposition, initially aimed at the Leisure & Hospitality industry that does touch upon the Equestrian industry. The Essentials products provides the basic minimum cover required to enable businesses to meet their legal insurance requirements, whilst still helping to protect them from catastrophic loss should the worst happen.
The Essentials product comes with 40% off standard pricing to further support businesses during this difficult period of trading.
In addition to the new Essentials product, all of Shearwater’s commercial clients, including equestrian businesses, are being offered a free 3-month subscription for Health & Safety Click, an online resource aimed at SMEs. The online service provides SMEs with online resources and email-based support for H&S e-Learning, document management, Business Continuity support, Human Resources support and expert advice on risk management.
