The Essentials Club provides members with a range of discounts to help look after their horses for less.

The Essentials Club is the brainchild of Amanda Watson, Managing Director at The Equestrian Index.  As a horse owner herself, she was keen to create a community where members receive discounts on horse equipment and services.

Following its launch in April last year, membership has grown considerably across the UK which is expected to continue during 2016 and beyond.

“We took a simple idea of a club and built a network of businesses that want to offer our members discounts.  It’s just like a Student card or Taste card but for horse owners!  The businesses giving the discounts are all equine related and so it offers them a great opportunity to speak directly to their buying public, and as the discounts apply whenever you shop, it should help buyers shop loyally with these very generous companies! Say for example you got a 10% discount every time you went to the supermarket, it would be fantastic!”

“The idea of saving money every time you have to get something is very appealing and the amounts really do add up over the course of a year.  You don’t have to wait for a sale, or save up points, the discounts are just there for members all the time”

Amanda added, “I have been particularly moved by all the recent welfare cases seen in the news and I really see the Essentials Club as a way forward to help people look after their horses for less.  We want to do what we can to help and our partner businesses are showing great support for all horse owners, for which we are so grateful”

The Essentials Club membership is £20 for a year and offers member discounts from 5-87% on every purchase at selected stores, online retailers, services and Insurance across the UK   The annual membership provides unlimited usage of your card to access the discounts including products like feed and bedding that are the bulk of purchasing, especially in the winter.

Membership also provides donations to 2 equine charities so you gain the added benefit of providing vital funds to support the work of the RDA and Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

Speaking about the initiative Amanda said “Equestrian charities work really hard to gain funding and as we are trying to help people save money, we feel it is only right for us to support these worthy beneficiaries.  We hope that members, charities and our businesses all gain something from the Essentials Club”
