Lara Dyson didn’t let pregnancy hold her back at the British Dressage Winter Regional Championships, held at Bishop Burton, winning three titles, riding Laura and Tracey Milner’s’, Jazzed Up.

The pair were crowned champions in the Novice Open, Elementary Open and Elementary Open Freestyle, all with scores of more than 70%, securing their ticket to the National Championships.

Proving her talent for producing youngsters, Lara has worked hard to give Felix the confidence to perform in the arena, a talented but sensitive horse, this is a real achievement for all the team involved.

Lara, who is a brand ambassador for The Lifeforce Range from Alltech, admitted feeling a little bit nervous for the first time, as she was feeling more aware of what she was doing, having a baby on board.

Bred by Laura and Tracey at the South Grange Stud near Pocklington in Yorkshire, Felix has been a big part of their lives for six years, with Laura describing herself as the proudest owner ever. Lara and Laura joined forces a year ago with the intention of breeding and producing top performing dressage horses here in the UK.

Using World Class stallions, their aim is to encourage people to look to the UK rather than Europe to buy quality youngsters.

Said Lara: “I cannot thank the Milner’s enough for trusting me to produce this gorgeous boy, all the hard work, patience and trust has certainly paid off, and I can’t wait to take him to the National’s, if I can still fit in my jodhpurs! I will be 31 weeks pregnant by then, and will compete if it is sensible to do so; I think baby Edwards has been my lucky mascot.

“I almost felt too prepared having taken Felix out competing quite a lot in the run up to the Regional’s to try and ease his nerves. Competing in several different arenas was a big ask of him, in the past he would have had a meltdown but he is such a quick learner.”

A thrilled Laura said: “Felix is our first homebred horse to compete at the Regional’s, so to win is just amazing, he has taken some persuading by Lara that life really isn’t that bad. I am so proud of the whole team at Cyden Dressage and the fantastic job that Lara has done.

“Between us we are hoping to breed some stars of the future here in the UK, and the success of Felix at the Regional’s is just the start.”

There was some disappointment for Lara on the final day of competition when she had to pull out of the Prix St. Georges Music Freestyle with her stallion Cyden Bodyguard Moorland due to her being diagnosed with an inflamed breast bone and an infection in her lung.

Lara said of missing out on competing: “I sometimes like to think I can do everything, however my body tells me different. I am so sad not to be able to compete Bodyguard as he has been going so well, he will have to rest his dancing shoes for another day.”

Further success for the Cyden team saw Alex-Jo Parsons and Cyden Molehorns Lespirit hold their own in the Elementary Restricted Music Freestyle taking second place, joining Lara and Felix at the National Championships.

Cyden Bodyguard Moorland will be standing at Stallion AI Services for a limited period in April and June for fresh and chilled semen. Frozen semen is available all year round from Cyden Bodyguard Moorland, Cyden Oostings Amigo and Cyden Cadans M.
