Specialist riding holiday operator, Ranch Rider is launching its “My Western Foal” competition and giving its equestrian fans the chance to name a new foal at Idaho’s Western Pleasure Guest Ranch. Due to be born in late May, the new addition will represent the third generation of ranch raised horses on the 100 year old property.

Ruth Daly, Marketing Director at Ranch Rider comments, “It’s the horses that play such a huge part in making ranch holidays so special, and guests often form long lasting bonds with their trusty steeds. Foaling season is an exciting time of year and our “My Western Foal” competition will give everyone the chance to share in and be part of this annual event.”

The new foal will be the fifth foal of Friday (registered name “Dun Good On Friday”) an Appaloosa who was born and raised on the ranch. A big beautiful Cremello Appaloosa stallion with a thick full mane and tail, the sire's barn name is “Gabe" (registered name “Platinum Cowboy”).

Regularly mentioned in Ranch Rider’s annual round up of top ten family-friendly ranches, the fifth generation Western Pleasure Guest Ranch also featured in USA TODAY’s list of Top 10 Guest Ranches in America.

Ruth Daly, Marketing Director at Ranch Rider comments, “If your little ones dream about owning their own pony, this is a great place to go as the relationship between horse and guest is the main focus of the stay."

A hands-on riding holiday, where children can even learn how to catch and saddle their own horse, the kid’s programme combines horse riding with learning how to care for the horses – the owners offering what is thought to be one of the world’s most educational dude ranch experiences. Kids from eight years can help work the cattle – archery and trap shooting also on the list of pursuits. A real confidence booster, the horse show, complete with trophies and ribbons, is a great way to round of the week. Six nights at the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch from £1,610pp (no single supplement) and from £1,230pp (six to 12 years) including accommodation, meals, most ranch activities, taxes and gratuities. Excludes return transfers of £310 (up to four people) and return flight from £889pp and from £774pp (under 12 years). Departures 03 June to 28 September.
