Eventing Spring Carnival at Thoresby Park - revisions to programme

Following further overnight rain into Friday morning and the continuing light rain forecast for during the day on Friday the decision has been taken to abandon Saturday's Intermediate and OI under-21. Open Intermediate sections G and H will continue as planned, alongside the CCI3*S.

Given the loss of other early season events the event has opted to prioritise those higher level classes and senior horses requiring a pathway for the Spring CCI5* events, which includes those horses competing in the Open Intermediate sections.

Ground conditions within the competition areas remain good and conditions will be monitored throughout the day.

Event Director Stuart Buntine said of the decision:

"We know this decision will come as a disappointment to many who are still desperately trying to get their eventing season started, however the wet weather is persistent.  By removing the additional Intermediate sections we can mitigate the impact on the ground with a view of keeping all other classes running as planned.

Extensive work is being carried out around the site to further mitigate the effects of the weather.  I can only thank our hardworking grounds team for their continued efforts and the understanding of the owners and competitors as we do everything in our power to keep the show running."

For clarity the abandoned sections are - Intermediate sections J and L, and Open Intermediate under-21 section I.  An adjusted timetable and activities scheduled will be published in due course.
