The five star competition begins with two days of dressage in the Main Arena on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday is cross country day, when approximately 80 horse and rider combinations will test their mettle around Land Rover Burghley’s famous course, which is designed by Captain Mark Phillips.   With a total prize fund of well over £250k, the competition comes to its climax with show jumping on Sunday to determine who will carry home the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge Trophy and the substantial 1st prize of £95,000.

Land Rover Burghley is far more than just horses; it is acknowledged as one of the primary British social occasions and is especially renowned for its shopping.  So, whether it’s the excitement of watching the world’s top riders in action ¬- including World Champions and Olympic medallists - or the lure of the famous retail village with over 600 individual outlets, the event provides activities and displays to appeal to all the family.

For the first time, this year the Event will host a Shetland Grand National, while the popular Autarky ‘Have A Go’ Dog Agility will return for a second time.  The Musto Mare equine simulator offers visitors the chance to ride the challenging cross country course or take a dressage lesson in virtual reality.  And of course car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to test the latest Land Rover vehicles to the limit at the Land Rover Experience.  For those seeking a quieter pace, rest and relaxation is guaranteed while sipping champagne at the Pol Roger Lodge.
