The 46th Westphalian Elite Auction took place last weekend at the studbook’s fantastic base in the beautiful surroundings of Münster-Handorf, Germany.

 41 of the 50 horses in the auction successfully sold at an average price of €29,854. With six of those sold to International buyers from as far afield as Australia, Japan, Russia, France, the Ukraine and the United States.

 The most exciting result of the day was the sale of Bundeschampion Damon’s Dream, a Damon Hill x Fürst Heinrich son. Who, with his expressive paces and exceptional bloodlines had been talk of the breeding world leading up to the auction weekend. After a thrilling duel of bidding he was sold to a local purchaser for the price of €270,000.

 A regular customer from Ukraine secured the second most expensive horse of the auction for €80,000. Don Aurelio, the Daddy Cool x Cornet Obolensky gelding had plenty of interest from local and international buyers for his huge jump.  The third highest priced sale was for Bellheim, a strong moving Benetton Dream x Damon Hill three year old who went to a buyer from Bavaria for €67,000.

 There were also a small selection of four elite ponies at this auction with the current Champion of Westfalia, Velina (Vincent x Notre Beau) achieving the top price of €30,000. The State Premium mare with huge talent and rideabilty is also the current winner of the free-jumping finals with a near perfect score of 9.8. There has been a huge increase in buyer demand for the Westphalian ponies, noted by the studbook in 2012 when they introduced their own annual event. With the average price between this auction’s collection of ponies being €14,125, there are exceptional youngsters available with talent and trainability at fantastic value if you come to the right place!  Buyers looking for their next future champion are encouraged visit the Pony Auction taking place on 1st December 2013 in Münster-Handorf.
