Based in Northumberland, Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre is the only Rare Breed Approved Conservation Centre in the country dedicated to heavy horses.
The organisation is solely ran as a not-for-profit organisation and all activities are carried out to raise funds for the running and development of the site.

Understandably, the farm has been unable to open its’ doors to the public and donations have plummeted because of the global pandemic.
British Horse Feeds wanted to lend a hand and offer the farm their support by supplying feed.
Commented Will I’Anson, Director of British Horse Feeds: “We actually saw Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre on the news appealing for help during these times. Like most charities, this period will hit them hard and we as a company want to help where we can.
“The heavy horse breeds will require a lot of feed, so we decided to offer our range to help with costs.”
As well as being a working farm featuring animals that would have been commonly seen in the era with working horses, the centre has a full breeding programme for all the species of animal, especially the now rare Clydesdale breed.
Said Vivenne Cockburn of Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre: “With a lot of our mares in foal it is important that we are able to care for them and British Horse Feeds offering their services was very well received.
“We were very interested in the Cooked Linseed, as it can be added to the horses feeding regime to promote condition, a healthy coat and general wellbeing.”
Vivenne Cockburn continued: “Everyone here at the farm want to thank British Horse Feeds and everybody else who has come forward to offer their support, it means the world for our organisation, and even the smallest amount of help can have a huge difference.”
