Throughout April there is a host of fascinating webinars hosted by the team at HorseTribe.
On Thursday 7th April at 7.30pm – Justine Harrison will look at – Understanding Fear In Horses

Following her hugely popular webinar looking at stress in horses, Justine is returning to help us understand more about how horses experience fear. As prey animals, horses are alert and on the constant look out for danger, so no surprise they often find themselves in a state of high tension and fear. That said, a fearful horse, isn’t a happy horse, so the more we are able to help them cope effectively without triggering a fight or flight response, the better.

In this webinar, Justine will help us to understand:

-What types of situation trigger a fight or flight response in horses

-How we unknowingly contribute to creating fear

-What actions we can take to reduce fear responses

-How we build our horses confidence to they experience fear less often

Justine Harrison is a certified equine behaviour consultant. She applies the science of behaviour and learning to help owners understand and solve horse behaviour issues.

On Thursday 21st April at 7.30pm – Anne Bondi discusses - The Future Of Welfare And Performance Of The Ridden Horse.

Equestrian sports are receiving increasing criticism from the public because of concerns about equine welfare.

Welfare issues associated with equestrian sports include the use of potentially harmful equipment, the application of coercive training techniques, gait abnormalities or lameness, aversive riding aids and a high prevalence of behaviour problems.

In this presentation, Anne will discuss the future of welfare and performance of the ridden horse. Anne will unpick some aspects of the horse, saddle, rider interaction and consider how, as horse owners, we can be fit for purpose in today’s fast changing world.
