The  East Anglian Savvy Team,  led by Cath Langley 2* Parelli Instructor, recently put on a demonstration of Parelli Natural Horsemanship to an audience of more than 50 people in the stunning grounds of Ashfields Carriage and Polo Club, Essex.

Anthony Greenleaves 1* Instructor and Wendy Smith, a Level 4 Parelli student, joined Cath and her horse Fred with their two charismatic partners Wiz and Chico, all three providing plenty of entertainment throughout the evening!

Firstly Chico’s exploits with the big green ball definitely counted for some great audience participation when he decided that passing the ball under the fence to spectators was a much better game than pushing it around the arena! Then Fred’s four legged flying impressions provided a perfect example of what a left brain extrovert horse might look like when he is feeling playful and expressive!

And finally Wiz’s decidedly speedy – for a left brain introvert - liberty play was a pleasure to watch, particularly after it was explained that Wiz was actually short for Wizzard and not Wiz with an ‘h’!

By the end of the evening, Wiz had managed to accumulate quite a fan club consisting of a rather large percentage of the audience!  A huge testament to all of Anthony’s hard work considering he used to be the sort of horse that would probably have been most people’s nightmare.

All the fun stuff aside all three partnerships demonstrated beautifully just what can be achieved when you put foundation before specialisation and above all the relationship first. The demo covered displays of all four savvies and the bond, exuberance but willing obedience between horse and human was plain to see.

Anthony and Wiz’s ‘self-bridling’, backup to canter transitions bridle-less from Wendy and Chico, and jumping halfway over a barrel at liberty with Cath and Fred were just a few of the things that drew audible gasps of disbelief from audience members.

The evening then finished on a hugely positive note when it was announced that over £800 had been raised for the Animal Health Trust charity.

A big thank you to everyone that attended and for your generous donations towards such a worthy cause.

And finally huge congratulations to Cath and the team for providing such an entertaining, inspirational and educational evening in East Anglia.
