IT was a cool Kitty King and a stylish Vendreti Biats who took the honours at this year’s Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials. This was a first major win for Kitty at the Yorkshire event and the talented grey looked in superb condition.

Kitty has been supported by Yorkshire-based TopSpec for many years and the team were out in force throughout the event to support her fantastic effort. Heading the Equi-Trek CCI4*-L, Kitty and Vendredi Biats, added just 0.4 of a showjumping time fault to her dressage mark of 26.8.

Vendredi Biats, who is owned by Diana Bown, Sally Lloyd-Baker, Sally Eyre and Samantha Wilson, put in a very classy performance in all three phases at Bramham.

Said a delighted Kitty: “It’s lovely to put it all together when it really matters. I didn’t feel too nervous before the showjumping because he is such a good jumper and has produced plenty of clear rounds, so I just focused on what I was going to be doing and on my lines and turns.”

They had a fence in hand because Gemma Tattersall and Jalapeno III, second overnight, dropped one rail, but Vendredi Biats jumped a lovely clear to complete on 27.2.

Added Katy Mickle of TopSpec: “We are all so delighted for Kitty and her team.  The horses always look fantastic and to have one of our sponsored riders win on our doorstep really is brilliant.”
