This year’s prestigious British Horse Feeds Red Dragon Festival of Endurance was once again hugely successful with competitors travelling far and wide to compete. The hugely popular event took place in the beautiful countryside at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.

British Horse Feeds sponsored the Speedi-Beet Red Dragon (2 x 80km CER), the Fibre-Beet Dragon’s Tail (80km CER + 42km GER) and the British Horse Feeds Little Dragon (80km CER).

Lauren Mills and her horse Oakleaze Farm Czaerko claimed the victory in the Speedi-Beet Red Dragon, with Sarah Rogerson on Warrens Hill Rubyn coming second and Rachael Cratchley on Open T’Offers taking third and also winning the award for Best Condition.

The Handling and Presentation Award in the Speedi-Beet Red Dragon went to Karen Jones and Treasured Moonbeam after much deliberation.

It was a first for Kathy Carr on Aberllwyd Femme Fatalle in the Fibre-Beet Dragon’s Tail, and it was a mother/daughter rivalry race for the second which was claimed by Charlotte Chadwick on Sky’s The Limit resulting in Ruth Chadwick and Tannasq Psyrenkus coming third.

The British Horse Feeds Little Dragon and Advanced Championship went to Sally McIlwaine and Mahbubti coming home first, Carina Kane on Evermore Artistic finished in second and Lesley Nott with Firebird took the third place.

Best condition went to Miracle and Tracey Sawyer and the Handling & Presentation award went to Summer Breeze 1 and Linda Cowperthwaite in the Little Dragon and Advanced Championship.

Said Martin Bielby of British Horse Feeds, “It has been another fantastic year at Red Dragon. It was great to see all the competitors enjoying the event and fantastic surroundings for the competition.

“The event support is perfect for British Horse Feeds with Speedi-Beet high in fibre which is ideal for endurance horses requiring stamina for the sport, and also helping horses to rehydrate.”
