A motivated student from Capel Manor College, Louis Golfier, was inspired to raise money for a charitable cause after hearing about the community benefits of a local food bank funded with help from Comic Relief.

Louis studies animal care at the College’s Enfield campus, he is a high needs learner with autism and has a wonderful imagination. Louis wanted to combine his love of helping people with his passion for animals, and came up with the brilliant idea of holding a sponsored conga line, with participants dressed in animal onesies!

Louis’ vision didn’t stop there; determined to turn his idea into a reality, he went to the College Activities and Marketing teams for support, and asked them to help push his idea not only at his campus, but all of Capel Manor College’s campuses across London. Louis’ idea has become the College’s largest cross-campus fundraiser yet.

On Wednesday 13 March, staff and students alike, donned their onesies, embraced animal prints, and participated in the conga across the College grounds at Enfield, Brooks Farm, Crystal Palace and Gunnersbury Park. Louis led the colourful conga line at Enfield, picking up Principal, Malcolm Goodwin and Vice Principal, Christine Bianchin along the way!

So far Louis’ wonderful idea has raised over £550 for Comic Relief and donations continue to come in. It’s not too late to donate and help support both a philanthropic student and a worthy cause.  Principal Malcolm Goodwin added, “The College is very proud of Louis and his fantastic fundraising idea for Comic Relief. We always encourage all of our students’ to take full advantage of their creativity in order to fulfil their potential, and this is no exception. Louis used his imagination and initiative to come up with a fun and original way to support a great cause. It was great to see all of our students and staff getting behind Comic Relief, and working together cross-campus to help Louis achieve his goal.”
