It was a change of discipline that recently saw young event rider and HAYGAIN ambassador Chelsea Pearce in the winner’s enclosure when heading the Paul's Place Camel Race at Chepstow Racecourse.
Daughter of former England International Football player, Stuart Pearce, this talented 16-year-old has enjoyed much success on the pony eventing circuit and has high ambitions for the future.
The youngest in the race Chelsea fought off stiff competition to win her heat and reach the three-strong prestigious final.
Camels Bertie, Kokoso and Kazak were ridden at the racecourse by other well-known celebrities including jockey Sam Twiston-Davies and model Lystra Adams to raise money for the Bristol-based charity Paul’s Place.
In the lead from the start line, Chelsea went on to win the race well ahead of the other two competitors in the final challenge.
Said Chelsea: “I was delighted to win the Charity Camel Race, I really enjoyed the day, it was a wonderful experience and fantastic to raise so much money for Paul’s Place.
“It was quite difficult to get on and off the camels and their long strides certainly take a bit of getting used to but it was great fun to accept the challenge.”
The charity event raised more than £30,000 for Paul's Place, which supports adults with physical and sensory impairment. The charity works to support physically disabled adults in a number of ways including running day facilities as well as arranging support for those who need care in their homes.
