The latest episode of H&C’s lockdown series, The Check In, features dressage superstar and triple Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Dujardin in conversation with Jenny Rudall. Charlotte talks about how the team and horses are coping with lockdown life and the impact of the postponement of the 2020 Olympics.

Charlotte shares fond memories of her trip to Africa earlier in the year, and looks forward with excitement to the time that she can be back out competing on top prospects Gio and Mount St John Freestyle, and how the delay in the Olympics may work in favour of these relatively young horses. Charlotte reflects on her preference for working with horses from an early age (rather than buying experience) and shares her excitement about 4 year old Mowgli.

Moving away from horses, Charlotte talks about the correct pronunciation of her surname and the problems some commentators (Jenny included) have with it, and how her mother will get in touch with presenters to correct them! Finally, Charlotte reveals the thing she’s looking forward to doing most of all once lockdown comes to an end. It’s got nothing to do with horses!

Also in the episode, Jenny talks to key worker and H&C viewer Faye Barry-Pavey whose online videos, tackling a rigorous cross country track in her back garden on her daughter’s hobby horse, Mermaid, have been brightening our lives during these strange times.

The programme, as with all episodes of The Check In, is free to watch on demand at the H&C website or in the free H&C apps. It’s also available on H&C Free, which can be found at horseandcountry.tv in the dropdown “Channels” menu.
