Fantastic news for Charlotte Goord being selscted for two development schemes from British Showjumping and the BEF.

Charlotte, 20, an equine business management degree student at Hartpury, has been selected not only for the British Showjumping Association’s Young Professionals Scheme but also the British Equestrian Federation’s World Class Programme.

Charlotte said: “I’m over the moon to have been accepted on to both of these programmes – I really hope that they will help to develop both me and Ellie [her horse]. Hartpury have been a real help and I can’t wait to continue working with them alongside these two programmes to keep improving.”

The Hartpury academy rider and her mount have been picked as part of the equine pathway within the World Class Programme – a strand aimed at identifying horses which have the potential to develop into medal winning horses. Charlotte and her horse will be supported with the aim of seeing her horse compete for medals representing Team GB in future International Championships.

With only eight riders selected onto the Young Professionals Scheme, Charlotte joins an exclusive group who will be supported on the year-long scheme which is designed to help further their careers.

Funded by Sport England, the programme operates on a flexible basis, allowing Charlotte access to things like hands-on experience with a top level coach or the opportunity to gain specific qualifications as well as knowledge and skills from business workshops for example. Charlotte will be looking to complete her artificial insemination qualification as well as the UKCC Level 2 coaching course as part of this.

Her academy manager, Lizzel Winter, added: “This is an amazing achievement for Charlotte; to be picked for just one of these schemes is something to be proud of. We can’t wait to see how Charlotte and her horse develop over the following year and we will of course do everything here to support her towards her goals.”
