Loughborough-based Glebe House recently donated a range of hand-made hay net racks to the Equine Department at SMB College Group!
During Glebe House’s visit to the Brooksby Campus to make their generous donation, the college’s Equine students tested out the hay net racks and then the Glebe House volunteers, who built them, had a go at using them to fill the nets, before taking a tour of the yard and meeting some of the College horses!
Karen Davidson, Equine Technician at SMB College Group said on behalf of the Equine team “We greatly appreciate the time and effort the Glebe House Wood Work team have put into making these hay net racks for us and donating them to support the students in completing the tasks on the yard.
“It has a be lovely to meet the team that made them and to show them how they will be used – it was also good fun to get them to have a go! Hopefully this will be the first step in building a mutually beneficial partnership and I look forward to what other additions can be made to help make life easier for us on the yard!”
Glebe House is a provider for children and adults with learning disabilities, providing services since 1983 and currently supporting over 200 individuals. They provide day services tailored to individual needs. These services can be in-house or within the local community in areas such as sports, drama, life skills, voluntary jobs, and more.
The Glebe House Work Skills service is for adults with learning disabilities who want to learn new practical skills which may help them find a paid or voluntary role in the future. The service is based at the Glebe Workshop in Loughborough and they have been involved in making the hay net racks for the college to support students’ learning.
The hay net racks are a welcome addition to SMB College Group’s Equine Centre at their specialist land based Brooksby Campus. The centre is equipped with state-of-the-art Equine Rehabilitation facilities including an aqua-treadmill, solarium and weigh bridge, in addition to indoor arenas, outdoor arenas, and lots more!
