GRUBS - the tried and trusted name in country footwear is moving home to Bolton, Lancashire.

Steeped in history dating back more than 240 years, the Foster family tradition of designing and manufacturing the ultimate performance footwear still lives on, with David and Jan Foster at the forefront of Grubs boots. The Foster family has made shoes in Bolton since 1898 when Joe Foster, David’s great-grandfather perfected his Running Pump. A founding member of the AAA, handmaking shoes for the olympic stars of 1924.

In 1958 David’s father and uncle founded a new company ‘Reebok’, establishing it’s own reputation with it’s own records and medals in the major games. More than 200,000 pairs found fame on the feet of the world’s athletes every year. In 1981 they were rated number one for quality by Runner’s World Magazine.

Throughout the 70s and 80s Reebok remained very much a family firm. David began to work full time for his father in 1983 and was part of the team that created the iconic aerobic and fitness shoes that the company is renowned for.

David and his wife Jan created the neoprene revolution in 2000 and the Grubs performance footwear brand was born shortly after, becoming a firm favourite for their ultimate performance and comfort in the country leisure and sporting worlds.

A British brand with global reach, the company has decided to move distribution back north so the ever-expanding business can develop further in Bolton. The new premises will create more space for the office staff and features a huge warehouse for boots.

Said David: “We are delighted about the move, the business is rapidly expanding and developing, so we hope the new building will enable the company to reach its true potential.”   “It’s a great feeling to bring Grubs back to Bolton and ensures Foster footwear history lives on.”
