It was a victorious weekend for International rider Hannah Biggs and her connections at the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships (9th-13th April) with great results to celebrate as well as her birthday on the Sunday.

Hannah and her Don Schufro gelding ‘Don Caledonia’ (stable name ‘Archie’) rode an incredible test in Saturday’s Medium Open Freestyle Championship to take the top spot with a score of 74.78%. The music, composed by Tom Hunt includes melodies from pop stars ‘Tinie Tempah’ and ‘Labrinth’ and is becoming a huge crowd pleaser.

“I just love riding to that music! All his extended paces were great today and his lateral work was the best to date.” Archie’s breeder Reay Campbell, travelled down from her base Caledonia Sport Horses in the Highlands to watch him compete and was delighted to see him succeed.

Hannah and the 6 year old went on to take the reserve title in the Medium Open Championship the following day, with a score of 72%. They were pipped to the post just 1% behind Matt Hicks and Don Carissimo. Over the moon at the weekend’s results, Hannah thanked Archie for a great birthday present.  “In today’s test Archie thought he was going back in for another fun filled prize giving, so was a little on his toes! I couldn't have asked any more from him though, and he still shone like a superstar! Thank you for a fab birthday present Archie!”

It wasn’t just the Dorset based rider who was in the ribbons over the weekend. Hannah’s pupil Katie Hills and her mare San Rubiosa took the Petplan Area Festival Elementary Restricted title beating a huge 60 qualified entries on a fabulous score of 71.55%.

The celebrations were followed with Hannah’s previous ride, Half Moon Revelation (Wotsit), winning the Area Festival Advanced Medium Restricted with his new owner 19 year old Amy Nash. Amy, who purchased Wotsit from Hannah last year was thrilled with his performance after they scored the only 70% in the field.

Hannah passed on her congratulations to Katie and Amy. “I am so incredibly proud of what both the girls have achieved and look forward to seeing them out competing this summer. It has been an awesome weekend and I couldn’t have asked for better results on my birthday. Bubbles all round!”
