Horse health leaders Haygain launch a digital calculator to help customers calculate the potential return on investment once they've had the revolutionary flooring system, ComfortStall, installed.

Haygain launched ComfortStall in the U.K. at the start of the year and have since gone on to install across the country in many leading veterinary clinics as well as training and professional riders yards. The unique system offers an impressive list of benefits including improved joint health, improved respiratory health, elimination of hock sores, improved quality of rest, relief from the symptoms of laminitis, reduced need for stall bandaging, thermal insulation, less bedding (some claiming as much as 75% less), less cleaning time and no floor maintenance being required. The presence of ammonia has been greatly reduced thanks to the innovative, sealed, one-piece design.

Dr Kate Allen (BVSc Cert EM(IntMed) DipACVSMR PhD MRCVS) of Bristol Veterinary School explains how it benefits their patients. “Having a sealed rubber matting system in the hospital is imperative for disinfection between horses. We also advise this for our clients in order to prevent urine seepage resulting in ammonia/bacteria build up under un-sealed rubber mats. Comfortstall provides superior cushioning and has resulted in less bedding being required and quicker mucking out/disinfecting times.”

Ammonia is known for its detrimental impact on respiratory health and a study by Haygain veterinary advisor Karen E. N. Hayes confirmed this. The study found that the ammonia smell in the stable was particularly harmful to horses health, particularly in the bottom 12 inches of the stable, the area in which the horse sleeps. When a horse is sleeping, the air he draws into his lungs is at its most toxic. When lying down, the horse breathes a lot slower and deeper, inhaling those toxic fumes deep into his respiratory system. The only way to remove the ammonia from the stable complete;y was to install the ComfortStall flooring system.
