HAYGAIN is delighted to welcome onboard Chelsea Pearce, daughter of former England International Football player, Stuart Pearce, as a new brand ambassador. This talented 16-year-old has enjoyed much success on the pony eventing circuit and has high ambitions for the future.

Besides Chelsea’s horses, National Hunt racehorses from various trainers reside at her base for their ‘summer holiday.’ Cole Harden, trained by Warren Greatrex and Paint The Clouds from the same stable are two of the successful racehorses enjoying their rest at the Pearce family home.

Having ridden from the age of two, Chelsea began her competitive career in the show ring, where her highlight was competing at RIHS and HOYS in 2008. In 2011, she switched disciplines and took up eventing, which she discovered to be her real forte.

In 2012, successful British Pony Team campaigner, Catherston Nutsafe arrived at Chelsea’s yard. After gaining experience from ‘Snoopy’ at BE100 level the combination quickly moved up to competing in pony trials. They were selected as an individual for the Pony European Championships in Arezzo, Italy where they went on to finish 15th.  The talented duo rounded off the 2013 season with a second place and best British rider in the CCNP** at Weston Park.

Alongside ‘Snoopy’ Chelsea also competed the lovely Little Indian Feather in pony ranks. Their highlight came in the form of a 3rd place at CCIP* Le Pin Au Haras International, France in 2013, to complete Chelsea’s fantastic season.

2014 saw the last year of competing on ponies for Chelsea, but it was certainly a fantastic one. Both of her ponies were selected for the Pony European Championships in Ireland. Chelsea opted to take the more experienced Catherston Nutsafe and they ended up bringing home Team Silver.

This year, Chelsea has moved up to competing horses and has gained some credible results riding Djakota EB and although Catherston Nutsafe is now with another young rider, she is still competing Little Indian Feather. This talented pony and rider partnership claimed the ONu18 at Chepstow earlier this year.

Chelsea is delighted with her HAYGAIN hay steamer and uses it twice daily to steam all the haylage for her horses.

Said Chelsea: “I believe that HAYGAIN helps to improve the health and wellbeing of our horses and therefore enhances their performances at events. We have already found it extremely beneficial and we can tell that the horses love it.

“When we had Catherston Nutsafe, she used to get a slight respiratory problem in the summer when the climate became dry and dusty. It would have been very useful to have had HAYGAIN for her, as it would have improved her breathing quality and most probably her fitness and performance. We find using the HAYGAIN hay steamer is an easy and effortless way of producing better quality haylage for our horses.”

Having stepped up to junior ranks Chelsea has recently acquired the beautiful Dutch bred Albert VI. This 10 year old, by Timeless has previously competed up to 2* level with Megan Cummings, with whom he won the Weston Junior 1* in October 2013. Chelsea hopes to tackle Junior Trials next year with Albert VI before moving up to Young Riders.

Chelsea is set on fulfilling her potential in the world of eventing and aims to compete successfully at 4* level, produce top quality horses and represent Great Britain at both national and international level. She is hugely dedicated and combines her academic studies and other sports with training, competing and caring for her horses.
We look forward to following Chelsea’s progress and wish her the very best of luck in her endeavours.
