So well-known for producing top class dressage horses from very humble beginnings, Steph Croxford brings her latest Grand Prix ride and words of wisdom to this year’s HorseFest.
Held at Weston Park in Shropshire, July 23 to 25 2021, HorseFest is THE summer festival for horse lovers.
With fantastic facilities including the Main Arena, 20m Demo Area, Large Talks Venue, six Workshop Venues, Painted Horse Interaction Zone and evening music, the magnificent estate is set to come alive over the three days.
Steph gained a huge following during her journey with the majestical, driving-bred Mr President, her Grand Prix partner for 10 years. Since those days she has gone on to produce Mr Hyde and also her current top ride, Mr Benn to Grand Prix status.
Mr Benn, now 11-years-old, is coming to HorseFest with Steph alongside her daughter Annabelle’s pony, Mr Holmes.
Says Steph: “I have produced Mr Benn, or Thug as he is known at home, since a four-year-old and he is also known as the Irish Bog Trotter, he is believed to be by a coloured Irish cob out of a Hackney cross Dutch Warmblood mare.
“Mr Holmes was bought from the same place and should have grown to 16.1hh but when he stopped at 14.2hh we decided he would be ideal for Annabelle and they have developed a great partnership.”
During her demonstration, Steph will discuss that with the correct training and knowledge most horses can reach a high level in the sport of dressage.
Adds Steph: “I have always looked for horses with a leg in each corner, as they stay sound so much easier and I am well known for buying them at a very reasonable price with the aim of producing and competing them at Grand Prix level.
“HorseFest is a really exciting event and I am very much looking forward to chatting and discussing so much on the dressage front.”
“Annabelle and I will also be putting together a Pas de Deux with Mr Benn and Mr Holmes to show what really can be achieved whatever level you have reached.”
With leading names already signed up, topics covered across HorseFest will include training on and off the ground, saddlery fitting, biomechanics, physiology of horse and rider and many more – there will be something for everyone to get involved with and enjoy whilst learning.
As well as the educational element, socialising is a key ingredient in the HorseFest mix, and the horse world does love a party!
