Busy combining her passion for dressage, standing three stallions at stud and working for builders Cyden Homes, Lara Dyson was the proud winner of the Amateur Owner Rider Award at the recent Le Mieux British Dressage National Championships, held at Stoneleigh Park.
The award goes to the highest placed amateur owner/rider who compete in horse sports for recreational purposes only and is intended to recognise genuine amateur owner/riders.
Lara, who is based at her yard in Healing, North East Lincolnshire, qualified for the nationals by winning the regional championships at Somerford Park.
As well as competing Cadans and his stable mate the KWPN approved Cyden Bodyguard Moorlands, Lara works for her family’s building company Cyden Homes and also oversees Cyden Dressage’s breeding programme which is going from strength to strength.
This means Lara knows the true meaning of being an amateur rider and the dedication, time management and early mornings that it takes to make things work and achieve results.
A normal day for Lara, who is also a brand ambassador for the Lifeforce Range of supplements from Alltech, can often involve exercising numerous horses and ponies in the morning before dashing into the office.
Lara said of her win: “I was absolutely thrilled to win the award, although I was a bit disappointed with his working in and test at the championships, he just went into himself as though he got stage fright and wasn't keen to show himself off, bless him. I am not annoyed with him though as he is still really young and he wasn't at all spooky, which used to be my main concern.”
“To be lucky enough to be his owner as well as his rider makes all the hard work even more rewarding and I just cannot wait to see what the future holds for us both.”
