World’s Leading Show Jumpers Head to Liverpool International Horse Show

The world’s leading show jumpers will be out in force at this year’s Liverpool International Horse Show as they battle it out for a place in the prestigious Hope Valley Saddlery Grand Prix on New Year’s Eve.

The Whitaker dynasty will be represented by John, Michael and Robert who are all set to compete at this festive show jumping finale which will round off 2017 in style at the Echo Arena, December 29, 30 and 31.

As well as the ever popular Whitaker’s leading British stars, Laura Renwick, Robert Smith, Jessica Mendoza, Will Funnell, Guy Williams, Louise Saywell and Nigel Coupe will be joining them to provide the very best show jumping sport in the run up to the New Year.

The show is always a huge draw for Irish riders and two-times Grand Prix winner, Billy Twomey will have plenty of support with Shane Breen, Anthony Condon, Michael Duffy and Peter Maloney also in action.

The Saturday night Equitop Myoplast Puissance is certainly building to what looks set to be one of the hottest competitions of the show.

The in-form Chris Megahy, a winner at Liverpool last year, has since gone on to share first place in the puissance at Royal Dublin Horse Show, while Anthony O’Regan who was fourth in the same class, will also be making his way to the Echo Arena, as will HOYS winner, Padraig Judge and Citi Business.

Show President Nina Barbour said: “The puissance is always such a crowd pleaser and we are delighted that so many of the inform stars are heading to Liverpool.  The Saturday evening is really building up to be a must see performance.”

Last year’s leading rider, Germany’s Felix Hassman will once again be looking to repeat his run of form at the 4* show and will be joined by Belgian rider Constant van  Paesschen as well as a host of other overseas stars.

This year’s Liverpool International Horse Show takes place December 29 to 31, at The Echo Arena on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
