The aptly named Luminosity™ www.luminosityonline.co.uk, recently formed to bring the horse world ‘bright ideas for wise riders’, launched its inaugural range of Visijax® award winning* Hi Viz LED wearable technology apparel and accessories to the equestrian market at this year’s BETA International trade fair 24 – 26 January, NEC Birmingham, to great acclaim with several retailers, here in the UK and abroad, buying into the brand and placing orders to stock it.

With the roads becoming busier, riders taking horse and rider safety more seriously and manufacturers like Visijax responding by designing products that riders actually want to be seen in, the future looks brighter.

Luminosity was set up by the team behind The GPC one of the UK’s leading specialist equestrian PR and Marketing agencies, upon becoming dazzled by the brightest (LED) lights of the hi tech, rechargeable hi viz, breathable, waterproof, washable Visijax range that offers the wearer superior comfort, style, utility and, importantly, a high level of level of visibility.

Winner of the 2015 CES Innovation Awards the jackets include unique motion sensor flashing indicator LED lights on the sleeves (front and back) which self cancel, requiring you to do nothing more than you would normally do to indicate your intention to turn or wave a car past.

The thoughtfully styled, innovative jackets and gilets, backpacks, backpack covers and luminous LED belts all come with an ‘In Case of Emergency’ ICEid Tag as standard, a system that enables first responders to an accident quick access to medical and next of kin information. ICEid tags can also be bought separately at Luminosityonline.co.uk.

Hugely popular with dog walkers, cyclists and runners too, the jackets are rainproof, breathable and light-weight, so can be worn over layers in winter and a T-shirt in summer. Powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery (which can be easily removed for machine washing the garment) the range sports reflective strips and flashing waterproof LED lights, red on the back, white on the front.

Spotting range’s potential to help people enjoy the countryside more safely – whether riding out first lot from a racing yard on a misty morning, hacking home from hunting, competing in Le Trec, enjoying a leisurely ride along lanes and bridleways on a summer’s day or, even just walking the dog – the team created Luminosity™ to bring these and other bright ideas to Britain’s horse riders.

Although quietly confident that the highly technical range would be well received, public opinion was canvassed prior to launch. “We wanted to be sure that, like their cycling counterparts, horse riders want technical clothing so we presented the range to consumers at Your Horse Live last November”, explains Luminosity spokesperson Andrea Worrall, a keen rider who takes safety seriously. “The jackets flew off the stand; notably we sold out of the most popular style requiring us to take orders to be fulfilled next day”, she continued.

With their confidence buoyed by the popularity among the Your Horse Live audience, Luminosity launched its website and the range at this year’s BETA International and were delighted with the response. “Riders are clearly taking their safety more seriously and manufacturers such as Visijax are responding by designing styles that people actually want to be seen in. In turn, retailers both here right across the UK as well as one in Norway and another in the US have all come on board – we couldn’t be more pleased”, said Andrea.

All new retailers will be listed on www.luminosityonline.co.uk/ so riders wanting to try before they buy can find a local stockist. Those without a stockist in their area can buy online with confidence thanks to the robust Luminosity returns policy and manufacturer’s warranty.
