HEROS, the Homing Ex Racehorses Organisation Scheme charity is proud to unveil its stunning new 30 x 54m indoor arena complete with Martin Collins Ecotrack surface.

The HEROS charity work began in the early 1990s and was granted charitable status in 2006   with help from RoR (Retraining of Racehorses), British Horseracing's official charity for the welfare of former racehorses.

Grace Muir who started HEROS has a lifetime's experience of horses working with racing trainers and owners for many years through the family stud based in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

Her knowledge and experience of racing together with excellent horsemanship skills enabled Grace to find many ex-racehorses a second chance of a new career.

Having rehomed hundreds of horses into eventing, dressage, polo, show-jumping and pleasure homes, the facilities needed to be able to re-educate and start their new careers are all important.

Having this new state of the art indoor facility gives Grace and her team the opportunity to re-train their horses in a safe, professional environment.

The choice of Martin Collins Ecotrack for their indoor arena certainly gives the horses the best start in their new careers. Ecotrack is a competition grade hard wearing surface, perfect for all disciplines. It is the blend of many components including a wax coating, that gives Martin Collins surfaces exceptional energy return. The wax coating, contributes to the exceptional durability of the Martin Collins surfaces, and also negates the need for watering. The surface was developed to meet the needs of all disciplines, from dressage to show jumping and even extreme carriage driving. Ecotrack is environmentally friendly and is the ideal surface for busy indoor and outdoor arenas. It provides a secure footing for the horses enabling them to perform more confidently and in complete safety which is essential for horses that need to be re schooled from the racetrack. A confident horse is a happy horse.

Grace and her team at HEROS are delighted with the new arena surface and Martin Collins Enterprises are delighted to have been able to support this worthwhile charity.

“I have had Martin Collins Waxed Pro-track down in the outdoor school for about 18 years and it is still very good.  It was a no brainer to go with Martin Collins again, the Martin Collins team are professional, know their subject and if we need any assistance or advice with the surface they are there straightaway to advise and help.  I am delighted with the new arena and the choice of surface, it has made so much difference to our rehoming figures as already we have doubled last year’s figures.  We are planning to hold competitions and clinics here too as soon as phase 2 is finished so it was essential to get the best surface”
