Based in Gloucestershire Jess Brown keeps her horse at a small friendly, DIY livery yard in Frocester.

Jess has been married to her husband for ten years and they have two young boys together. Working as a front line police officer on a 24/7 shift pattern can be demanding but also means that Jess has invaluable days off in the week to spend with her family and pets. Jess has been riding since the age of eight-years-old and learnt to ride at a local riding school. She got her first horse when she was 15-years-old and he was with her right until the end of his life.

Said Jess: “I then found out I was pregnant with my first child and decided that buying an unhandled two-year-old directly from his breeder was a good idea!”

Jess now owns Afondale Lancer known as Lanky in the stable, a 10-year-old, 17.2hh Cleveland Bay x TB.

Said Jess: “I have done everything with him from scratch, including teaching him that feed bowls are not terrifying!”

The pair belong to a local riding club and take part in rallies, they have also been to some unaffiliated shows and enjoy exploring the countryside in which they are based.

Added Jess: “Lanky is an angel with both our children who have grown up with him. They both love to help out with him. My biggest achievement with him is producing him from a gangly two- year-old who was scared of his own shadow to him now being a fun, trusting and loving horse.

“It sounds cliché but we trust each other so much as we have done it all together from the beginning. I backed him myself and schooled him on with the help of instructors and friends. He is a pleasure to own and I am so proud of what we have become.”

Jess has always been aware of the HorseHage & Mollichaff brand as she has been around horses for years and always notices the products in shops. Added Jess: “HorseHage was also fed on one of the yards where I kept my old horse and he really enjoyed it.

“I feed my horse Mollichaff HoofKind Complete. He has been on it since he was a four-year-old and came into work. He has such good quality feet that he only wears front shoes and my farrier comments on how tough they are. His coat is always shiny and as he is a good doer I know that he is eating a quality, palatable feed without ingesting unnecessary and unwanted calories.

“I would recommend Mollichaff Hoofkind Complete to anyone who is looking for a quality, affordable, well balanced feed that caters for good doers.

“My horse is shiny, happy and enjoys his feed and is able to undertake the job that I want him to do easily.”
