A chance sighting of a post on Facebook resonated with horse breeder, Louise Bateman from Nottinghamshire.

The story featured the success of a sick pony, who recovered after being fed Mycosorb A + from global animal health and nutrition company, Alltech. Louise realised that the pony in the story had suffered symptoms similar to that of her highland pony, Baby.

Thanks to Mycosorb A + an organic, yeast based mycotoxin binder, the sick pony returned to full health. By reducing mycotoxin absorption in the digestive tract of the horse, Mycosorb A + helps to negate the damaging effects of mycotoxins.

Louise recognised that Baby was therefore potentially showing clinical signs of mycotoxin poisoning, such as the head nodding along with pacing and swollen grass glands.

Mycotoxins are the secondary metabolites of mould, which are present in the environment and are known to contaminate feed, forage and bedding. Mycotoxins often occur in combination, which at the right level, can result in negative effects on horse health and performance.

At just six-years-old, Louise had only been able to lightly hack Baby after having her professionally started. This was due to a scar not healing properly in the girth area following surgery to remove a sarcoid, a year earlier.

This was particularly disappointing for Bateman who bred Baby herself and whose grand-sire was bred by Her Majesty, The Queen.

After only three weeks of being fed Mycosorb A+, Baby immediately appeared in better health and the symptoms she was displaying dramatically improved.

“After reading about Mycosorb A+ on Facebook, I thought I had nothing to lose in giving it a try,” said Louise. “While I am not trying to claim the product has been responsible for the improvement in Baby’s scar, I think it has boosted her immune function sufficiently for her body to begin healing itself, therefore having a positive impact on the healing of the scar. There has been a dramatic improvement in the healing of Baby’s scar.”

The unique technology behind Mycosorb A + makes it the most advanced mycotoxin binder on the market and is backed by 18 years of research and patent-protected technology.

“After a short period, Baby displayed visible improvement,” said Louise. “I tried reducing the dose after a few weeks, however she immediately deteriorated. I had to reinstate the recommended dose, which is a testament to the effectiveness of Mycosorb A + in my personal opinion. With continued progress I am hopeful that I will be able to girth up Baby soon and begin ridden work once again.”

Mycosorb A + is one of the five cutting edge ingredients found in Lifeforce Elite and will soon be available as a stand-alone product in  a 5kg tub. For further information on The Lifeforce Range visit www.lifeforcehorse.co.uk
