National Entries for Royal Windsor Horse Show 2016 are now open for all those hoping to compete at the prestigious Horse Show, which takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 May 2016.
As the first major outdoor equine show of the season and with such a great array of National Jumping, Invitational National Dressage and over 120 showing classes on offer, ranging from lead rein show ponies to heavyweight cobs, organisers of the five-day action packed show are predicting record entries to this year’s event.
To help accommodate the growing demand for national competition at the show, a new addition to 2016 will be the Adelaide Arena at the south end of the show ground which will host many of the In Hand Showing classes.
Windsor will also be introducing CSI Amateur-A classes to this year’s event, open to national and international riders, where five classes will be held over the course of the Show.

National Competition Highlights at Royal Windsor 2016 include:

  • Thursday 12th May

  • -          National Show Jumping -          Working Hunters -          Hackneys -          RoR/TBA Retrained Racehorse Challenge Championship -          Coloured Horse / Ponies, Ridden and In Hand   
  • Friday 13th May

  • -          Mountain and Moorlands, In Hand -          Hacks -          Cobs -          Haflingers       
  • Saturday 14th May

  • -          Services Team Jumping -          Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter Ponies -          Mountain and Moorlands, Ridden -          Inter Schools Show Jumping      
  • Sunday 15th May

  • -          Pony Club Show Jumping -          University Show Jumping -          Intermediate Show Hunter / Riding Type -          Appaloosas -          Portuguese Lusitanos -          Spanish Andalusians

In between the hotly contested classes, competitors will also have the chance to watch some of the world’s best equestrian performers who will be showcasing their acts ahead of performing in the evening for The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations, which takes place on the last four evenings of Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Other highlights include CSI 4* International Jumping, the Land Rover International Driving Grand Prix CAIO4* World Cup Qualifier, and performances from The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, The Shetland Pony Grand National and DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games. In addition, there will be a shopping village with over 220 shops selling all things from equestrian goods to homeware and much sought after fashion brands as well as other delights such as pop-up restaurants, bars, cafes and food stalls throughout the site.
