Henrietta Knight is a world-renowned Thoroughbred racehorse trainer, best known for her work with National Hunt racehorses. During September Henrietta had her Outdoor School at West Lockinge Farm totally renovated and replaced by the Martin Collins team.

Having put her trust in Martin Collins almost 40 years ago when Martin himself installed her outdoor school, she knew this was a brand she could rely on.  At that time the surface was a mix of PVC and sand but technology has moved on since then and Hen wanted to take advantage of the developments in surfaces and opted to have the Activ-Track product installed.

Many a horse has started his racing career in Hen’s outdoor school which is used for lunging, long reining and flat work, including the likes of Best Mate and Edredon Bleu. Nowadays she concentrates her time at West Lockinge Farm, not only educating high class racehorses but also breeding top Connemara ponies.

Hen commented; “I am so impressed with the level of service and quality of work from the Martin Collins team. This was a big job, totally upgrading all the drainage, groundwork and fencing. The team were mindful of this being a working yard so kept to a tight schedule, were tidy and efficient and most of all friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone be it for an arena or a gallop. The quality of workmanship and premium surfaces that only they know how to mix keep sound horses sound! Martin Collins understand the importance of detail, quality and performance. From racing to riding horses, I put my trust in them.”

Activ-track was the chosen surface for Hen’s renovation. A slightly “looser” blend, it has plenty of fibres and cushioning, enabling the horse to work into the surface a little more. It provides stability underfoot, is highly durable and easy to maintain. Ideal for outdoor surfaces as it drains easily and is resistant to freezing enabling the horses to be worked all year round.

Hen’s Activ-Track arena will get a new generation of equines benefitting from the secure footing that only a Martin Collins surface can offer.
