The Jockey Club Rooms is one of Newmarket’s iconic locations. It’s not every day that you can go inside this prestigious member’s only venue but on certain dates throughout the year, Discover Newmarket hosts the Champagne Afternoon Tea and Tour at The Jockey Club Rooms.

Tour of The National Stud 

This is the chance to go inside the only commercial stud farm open to the public in the UK. A guided tour of The National Stud is the chance to learn more about thoroughbred bloodstock and breeding. Tours last approximately 90 minutes and offer the chance to learn more about The National Stud, see the impressive stallions and spend time with mares and foals in the paddocks.

Tickets are just £11 per person or take advantage of a family ticket that includes two adults and two children for just £30. Children under five go free as do Blue Badge holders.

Tattersalls Tour 

Another of Newmarket’s iconic locations, the sales ring at Tattersalls has seen some of the best horses bought and sold here at various times throughout the year. A Tattersalls Tour is the chance to experience the high stakes world of buying thoroughbred racehorses.

This visit includes time on the training grounds in the morning, a behind-the-scenes look inside a racing yard before a visit to Palace House and then on to Tattersalls for a behind-the-scenes tour before sitting next to the sales ring and experiencing the excitement and thrill of the sales.

Visit Palace House 

No visit to Newmarket is complete without stopping in at Palace House, the home of the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art. Housed inside the remains of King Charles II sporting palace is an impressive collection of British Sporting Art which boasts work by the likes of Sir Alfred Munnings and George Stubbs.
