PDS saddles, the range of dressage saddles created in conjunction with Carl Hester MBE, are proud to announce the launch of their latest model, the PDS Brioso.

This new saddle, the culmination of months of design and development, offers the perfect union between horse and rider. Carl’s fine tuning and ability to “feel” the difference in movement and balance enabled the team to add design details and enhance the saddle’s fit and performance.

This saddle offers a new and improved girthing system with three girth straps, including a point strap to choose the most suitable solution for the horse.

Featuring a new skirt design with attractive stitch details it is manufactured in the highest quality, natural tanned, pigmented double leather for grip, making the leather soft and supple.

Two options of thigh support are available; the PDS anatomical knee-roll or the new ‘Corta’ knee-roll, which is moulded from a soft foam and shaped to be slightly shorter in length.

With the PDS interchangeable gullet plate system it is easy to alter the fit of the saddle due to weight changes or muscle development, saving owners time and money.

The saddle features independent, synthetic wool panels that allow for more flexibility in fitting and more shock absorption for both horse and rider, enabling saddle fitters to really custom-fit PDS saddles for each individual horse.

The Brioso, named after one of Carl Hester’s mares, is designed for the wider horse that can be tricky to fit. Brioso is a strong powerful mare with very little wither, strong and flat over the back with a forward girth groove. Her powerful hindquarters and conformation could lead to most saddles moving forwards onto the shoulders – so creating a saddle for this type of horse took quite a while to perfect. The three girthing billets give many more fit options for difficult to fit horses.

The PDS dressage collection has been upgraded and developed with Carl Hester over the years since its initial launch and now has many more features, fit options, and design details. Carl commented “I have helped PDS develop their range of saddles and I’m proud to say we now have options for any shape of rider or horse combination. I particularly encourage riders to try this new saddle – it gives the horse freedom of movement and is totally adjustable so can be altered to fit on site and the price is very competitive.”
