It has been an exciting time for everyone at Scropton Riding for the Disabled as riders, drivers, volunteers and ponies have all been challenged to earn a special golden rosette.

The rosettes mark the 50th Anniversary of Riding for the Disabled across the UK and Scropton

In recognition of 50 years of Riding for the Disabled, the centre has been setting different challenges and activities in lessons and rewarding everyone’s achievements with one of these special rosettes.

The fun challenges have covered everything from riding skills, joining in mounted games, working as a team and trying something new. Throughout the sessions there has been a lot of smiles and laughter and a real sense of achievement in earning these special rosettes.

The group, based in the village of Scropton in South Derbyshire, actually celebrated its’ own 50th Anniversary four years ago in 2015, with a special golden gala and a visit from Princess Anne. However, everyone has been happy to have an excuse for more RDA celebrations.

Some riders from the centre also got to take part in a Special Olympics Equestrian Competition for riders from across the East Midlands and so more rosettes were won then too.
