Lauren Robertson’s young middleweight show hunter, Solomon, was progressing well in his showing career, having qualified for the Royal International Horse Show in both Open and Amateur Hunter classes last year.

However, even though he looked well she felt he was missing a bit of extra topline – as well as the energy and spark needed to achieve the best results.

After long journeys and the lack of grass while away at shows, Lauren explained that Solomon, standing at 17.2hh, used to ‘tuck up’ and lose condition, which negatively affected his success when competing.

Lauren decided to change her six-year-old German Warmblood’s diet to TopSpec Comprehensive Feed Balancer and TopSpec CoolCondition Cubes to keep him calm and relaxed while making sure he was in peak condition for the show ring.

“The results have been amazing,” said Lauren. “By the time we went to our favourite show – Equifest – the feed had really kicked in and he looked a million dollars. He was third in the Hunter Championship and his behaviour was impeccable in the evening performance. We didn’t need to use any calmer or ear plugs, the feed made such a difference to his temperament.”

The next day Solomon, known as Decorum in the ring, went on to win the 4, 5 & 6 year-old Show Hunter class, and then took Reserve Supreme Champion that evening.

Added Lauren: “He gave me the most phenomenal ride, one I’ll never forget. My smile could tell a thousand words as we stood in the centre of the ring, the feeling of this wonderful accolade felt like a dream. I couldn’t believe our precious horse had finally won his first sash!

“As a show horse with a big body to fill, feeding Solomon on TopSpec products has helped us to achieve his ideal weight without making him fat or silly. Our next ambition is to qualify for HOYS in 2017 with this very special and much admired horse.”
