Every October, Birmingham’s NEC is transformed into an equestrian utopia as Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) fills 50 acres of the site with thrilling world class entertainment. The incredible Horse of the Year Show returns to the NEC Birmingham’s, Resorts World Arena from 4th – 8th October 2023. Whether you are a competitive rider, horse enthusiast or simply want to enjoy an exciting day out, Horse of the Year Show has something to offer every member of the family. Spread across five days, the show is the ultimate celebration of the horse and has something for every member of the family to enjoy - food and fine dining, a shopping paradise, and breath-taking displays as well as the exhilarating Pony Club Mounted Games.
The first part of the week is packed with all the fan favourites including the Mountain and Moorland classes on Wednesday through to Friday. National Showjumping championships run throughout the week with the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Champion finishing off the Thursday in style. Thursday evening is also the stage for the Dressage Future Elite Championship, with 8 of the country’s highly anticipated young horses performing an Intermediate I Freestyle test. The prestigious Price Family Supreme In-Hand Championship is a popular showcase on Friday. Friday also sees the start of the International Showjumping classes which are always firm favourites with the crowd.
Things hot up on the weekend, as the Saturday daytime showcases championships galore in both the TopSpec Arena and the Andrews Bowen International Arena. The evening performance is equally exhilarating with the final instalment of the Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Driving Championship and the continuation of the International Showjumping classes with the highly anticipated Ripon Select Foods Puissance finishing off the evening with competitors looking for that top spot jumping the Big Red Wall.
Sunday remains the ‘day of champions’ as the show comes to a climax with the crowning of the Supreme Products Supreme Horse and Supreme Products Supreme Pony of the Year and the Leading Showjumper of the Year. You will also get the chance to see the awarding of the much-coveted Prince Philip Cup to the Pony Club team who have raced their way to victory in the Mounted Games heats. Rounding off a fantastic programme of equestrian talent will be the finale celebrations on Sunday evening marking the end of another fabulous edition of Horse of the Year Show.
Our main display this year, KOME Entertainment, is set to be one of the most spectacular displays of the week attracting audiences on every day of the show, including two performances on Saturday and Sunday to allow both daytime and evening ticket holders to witness the action-packed performance. ‘Grease’ Live! With a different kind of horsepower! Taking you back to 1959 its time to hand-jive to your favourite iconic hits as you experience Grease like you’ve never seen it before with an immersive equestrian theatrical performance. Watch the ‘Summer Nights’ unfold with live singing, daredevil stunts, and impressive horsemanship with beautiful horses creating the never seen before unique experience at Horse of the Year Show.
Throughout the week the HOYS retail village is open each day, where you’ll find all your equestrian essentials as well as treats and gifts. A huge variety of your favourite equestrian brands will be available.
