The Equestrian Index HOYS Trade Stand of the Year awards (TOTY) are designed to recognise exhibitor talents in trade stand dressing and etiquette throughout the show week. All trade stands by way of exhibiting are automatically entered into the awards which have two sections; Best Display 20sqm and under and Best Display over 20sqm.

Judging for the awards took place anonymously by two industry experts over Wednesday and Thursday of the show during trading hours. Every trade stand (and team) were marked out of 10 across four categories; best overall impression, warmest welcome, best use of space and best interaction with customers.

The winner of the 20sqm and under category in 2022 was Isle of Man based company, Epico Equestrian – the business owner Steph Gardiner is dedicated to providing a range of comfortable, practical and great looking riding leggings, base layers and riding briefs. A first time exhibitor at HOYS, they were delighted with their new TOTY title. Judges feedback was that the stand space was beautifully laid out, all products were easy to view and access, there were changing rooms and the stand was open and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly and engaging with customers and their product knowledge was second to none.

Taking the honours in the over 20sqm was Cheltenham based business Holland Cooper. Their sumptuous, eye-catching stand stretching across the aisle meant the team were kept extremely busy and the way the staff managed the space and customers played a significant part in their victory. The judges’ feedback was that their stand was stunning, impeccably presented and staff really did go the extra mile to look after visitors despite often being inundated.

Both worthy winners were awarded with a trophy and the choice of a year’s digital membership or This Business of Horses podcast episode with The Equestrian Index.

2022 was another tough year for the judges, with a phenomenal amount of effort on display from all exhibitors.

Congratulations to all and what a fantastic shopping experience you gave all the HOYS visitors!
