The Event Horse Owners Syndicate launches the Shadow Man Experience with Ben Hobday

The newly-launched Event Horse Owners Syndicate (EHOS) is delighted to have teamed up with event rider Ben Hobday and fellow owner Jane Chambers to offer an exclusive opportunity to be involved in Shadow Man II, one of the most exciting and promising event horses in the country. Having claimed the British Open Championship in 2019 the pair now have their sights firmly set on stepping up to 5* in 2021!

The Shadow Man Experience allows members of the public to go behind the scenes as Ben aims Shadow Man II at the 5* Badminton Horse Trials in 2021. For £250 a share (a one-off payment), 500 eventing fans will be part of the Shadow Man II journey in 2021. The experience will run from 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2021. They will receive weekly training updates, exclusive behind the scenes content, competition videos, yard visits and course walks. They will also have priority access to exclusive EHOS training clinics with Ben.

An exciting prospect and Badminton 2021 contender

Shadow Man II (stable name ‘Fidgy’) is jointly owned by Ben and Jane Chambers. Northumberland-based Ben purchased Shadow Man II eight years ago as a raw and unbroken two-year-old. He has since broken him in and brought him on to progress quickly through the British Eventing levels. A ten-year-old chestnut gelding by Fidjy Of Colours, Shadow Man II excels at the cross-country and showjumping phases but with the paces and expression to score well in dressage too.

In 2019 he and Ben finished second in the CCI4*-L at Ballindenisk and fifth at Bramham’s CCI4*-S. They were then a fantastic second in the CCIO4* Nations Cup competition at Strzegom. The combination also came second to Jonelle Price at the Magic Millions British open championship at Gatcombe’s Festival of British eventing. This finish position saw Ben crowned British National Eventing Champion!

An exclusive opportunity for eventing fans

Unlike the ownership syndicate models that will be available from EHOS in the coming months, ownership of Shadow Man II will remain with Ben and Jane for the duration of the experience. Ben comments:

“I am so excited to share the Shadow Man II journey with eventing fans. They will be able to learn about what goes on behind the scenes when preparing a horse for Badminton! Fidgy is one of the most exciting horses I’ve had the privilege to sit on. I can’t wait to continue his journey with our own army of fans keeping us company. Without the fans our sport just wouldn’t be what it is. This is such a brilliant opportunity to give them something really special to be involved in.”

EHOS Co-Founders Jack and Megan Sanders added:

“As keen followers of the sport of eventing ourselves and big fans of Ben, we are over the moon. This experience offers something so special to followers of this exciting sport. This is something which has never been done before but will offer people the chance to experience what it’s like to have a horse aiming for the highest-level of competition. We know Ben is the perfect rider to provide behind the scenes and exclusive updates for our customers. The Event Horse Owners Syndicate is delighted to have Ben on board!”

Shares cost £250.00 and are limited to the first 500 people. They are available to buy on the EHOS website now: https://www.eventhorseownerssyndicate.co.uk/buy-a-share/shadow-man-ii/
