TopSpec High Fibre Mash is perfect for all horses and ponies that obtain all the calories they need from forage but either deserve a feed or need a palatable low-calorie carrier for supplements.

Mashes are very useful for hydrating horses and volumising their feed.TopSpec High Fibre Mash is a high fibre, low-calorie yet voluminous blend making it an ideal mash for good-doers.

TopSpec High Fibre Mash is cereal-grain-free, low in sugar and starch and therefore ‘Non-Heating.’

The more water added to the dry mash to make it up, the lower calorie the ‘as-fed’ mash will be. TopSpec nutritionists recommend adding 2 parts water to 1 part dry mash to result in a wet mash supplying 3.5MJ/kg.

TopSpec High Fibre Mash is suitable for:

  • Horses and ponies that need a low sugar/starch mash.
  • Horses that need hydrating e.g. when away from home or during the winter.
  • Use as a carrier mash for supplements, balancers and/or medication.
  • Horses that find low sugar chops unpalatable but need a low-sugar feed.
  • Horses that have difficulty chewing or grinding their feed.
  • Use as a partial or complete hay replacer.

The highly digestible fibre in the mash helps to promote the beneficial bacteria in the hindgut therefore helping to maintain a healthy digestive system.

The mash is a blend of good quality high fibre ingredients, including oatbran. Salt, magnesium oxide and limestone are added to the blend to provide additional sodium, magnesium and calcium.

TopSpec High Fibre Mash is designed to be fed with any TopSpec feed balancer or an appropriate TopSpec supplement as it does not contain any added vitamins or trace-elements. This combination can be mixed with any other appropriate horse feed including straw-based chops.

TopSpec High Fibre Mash should be soaked for 5 minutes prior to feeding with 2 parts water to 1 part mash.

TopSpec High Fibre Mash is available in 20kg - £13.25.
