Two dressage horses who both featured in previous Westphalian Studbook auctions and licensing have gone on to recent high profile competition with much success.

At the Bury Farm High Profile Dressage Show on 1st December previous Westphalian graduates Dragon Heart II and Pompidou took wins in the PSG and Grand Prix Freestyle classes respectively.

For Pompidou, ridden by Roland Tong and owned by Sarah Wrigley, it was a fantastic end to what has been a hugely successful year. 69% and 3rd place in Saturday’s Grand Prix was then followed on Sunday by a refined freestyle test which held movements with a high degree of difficulty scoring them 75.48%. They finished with a 4% lead in front of 2nd place Der Schufro ridden by Jacky Stolper. Roland commented on how much the Prinz Wilhelm gelding really wants to impress in all the movements.

Pompidou and Roland were crowned national champions of Ireland in this same year which saw them selected to compete for Ireland in their European Championships debut.  The long time partnership will also be competing at Olympia in the FEI World Cup Dressage Qualifier on the 16th December.

Dragon Heart II, owned and ridden by Willow Kemp, is a 10 year old by Dresemann out of a Weltmeyer mare who was purchased after the main NRW Licensing in 2007. The appearance at the high profile show was in preparation as Willow and ‘Dragon’ went on to their continental debut shortly after at Roosendaal CDI in Holland. The partnership who have recently been training with Carl Hester, scored a respectable 68.15% at Bury Farm in their first competition since the Nationals in September.

Fine Time IV ridden by Carl Hester, who featured in the Westphalian Studbook e.V. 2004 Spring Elite Auction, has also been selected to compete at Olympia next week. The Florestan stallion owned by Gemma Appleton is also the current British Dressage national champion.
