Footwear for Cross-Country Days

Without doubt the most popular day of any three day event, spectator wise, is cross-country day. Set in the beautiful landscape of vast estates and grounds, courses can have around 30 fences stretched across a four mile route.

For viewers this can be a long time on your feet especially if you are stopping at each fence to watch a rider take on the jump, or if you are walking with the family which can include youngsters to grandma and grandad.

On most cross-country days you will see a plethora of dogs being brought to the event as it is a great day out to spend time and also exercise canine friends, safely on the lead.

The terrain around the course can at time be uneven and undulating and will most likely be grassland in varying states of condition.

Taking the above into account it is so important to wear the correct footwear, as getting blisters, feet overheating or starting to hurt can ruin the whole experience and day out.

The team at Grub’s performance footwear has a range to suit everyone and to make your cross-country walk enjoyable and fun.

For those who like a jeans and trainer look, the Discover Shoe is an immensely popular shoe for walking and is ideal for grass if it is a bit dewy as they are waterproof, so will keep feet dry.

Support is guaranteed with the Discover as it has been designed with a stability cradle so the foot sits deep in the sole, supporting the arch and cradling/stabilising the heel.

For walking the rollin gate increases the fluidity of motion, reducing discomfort in lower limbs, even after hours of use.

The classic white jeans, tweed blazer and leather boots outfit is a popular look for events such as Bramham, Badminton and Burghley. The Grub’s Alston boot is perfect for this choice as it has been hand crafted in supple Iberian leather and fitted with a water resistant breathable membrane.

With elegant detailing running the length of the zip, with a tassel attached to the zip and smart buckle around the top of the leg this gives the boot a classic smart feel.

But this boot isn’t just stylish, it is comfortable too thanks to the Vibram Blown rubber sole in classic commando pattern, for a sure footed grip whilst being lightweight.

For a country, boutique fashion feel, the Skyline is a hard-wearing, high quality, quilted boot available in two colours, Black/Heather and Mahogany/Rosewood, ideal to look trendy on the walk.

Inside the lining is hard wearing, and wicks moisture away from the wearer’s foot, to prevent a sweaty and uncomfortable feel. It is fungus and rot proof so will not smell, like cotton-lined boots.

The Underfoot Chassis™ has been added to give a sure-footed platform when walking across the course.
