Just like the equine industry itself, there is never a dull day on our equine courses. Based at our fantastic Common Leys Farm Stud you will be immersed in the day to day life of a working thoroughbred stud and equine centre. Dependent on your course, a normal day could involve yard duties, developing handling and routine care skills, riding practice in one of the outdoor arenas, running competitions and studying anatomy and physiology in our purpose built science labs! We have courses in Horse Management, Equine Science, Horse Care and Riding.

The Equine department has a wide range of courses for students to study in Further Education and in Higher Education supported by outstanding facilities. The department boasts an Olympic standard arena that has an impressive schedule throughout the year. This includes local, national and international competitions. The equine unit is a British Horse Society examination centre and approved by the BHS. Students may take an active role in the day to day routine care of the horses, giving them that all important industry experience. Students are encouraged to work towards BHS examinations to provide an additional vocational qualification.

The Equestrian Learning Academy is a specialist training provider offering professional, effective training to the Equine Industry from government funded further education and Apprenticeships. We offer courses from level 1 to level 3, providing training for beginners through to the more advanced head grooms. All of our courses are work based, which means they combine hands on practical work experience in industry, with knowledge and understanding.
