High quality education and facilities for the equine industry is at the forefront of North Highland College UHI. Alongside the highly practical horse care and riding elements of our courses, our students are also taught health and safety, business and management, marketing and communication, IT skills, working with others and key enterprise skills. From the stunning highlands of Scotland, our equine students are based at our purpose built Rural Studies Centre alongside our veterinary nursing and gamekeeping students. The centre boasts:

You will have the opportunity to progress from an NC Horse Care to BA (Hons) Equine Business Management with our specialist equine tutors who are widely known within the equestrian community. Our equine students are encouraged to enter competitions and participate in shows to enhance their practical abilities while also networking with industry professionals. To further endorse our students' academic capabilities and enhance employment prospects we also prepare them for British Horse Society Examinations.


Riseholme College, set in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, provides some of the finest equine training anywhere in the country. With top-class indoor and outdoor facilities, students learn from experts in the field and benefit from practical work experience placements. Riseholme College, based in Lincolnshire, has an outstanding reputation for the quality of its provision and has undergone a complete refurbishment of all its arenas and key facilities. The college runs equine apprenticeships, further education and degree programmes covering all aspects of the industry and has an outstanding track record of student success. Riders of a high standard, or those who have the potential to succeed at a high level, are also given the opportunity to join our prestigious Equine Academy. Academy riders are provided with expert coaching and tuition to enable them to compete at a high level. Students studying at Riseholme College have access to the outstanding facilities at our Bishop Burton Campus, this includes the impressive Bishop Burton Arena, Therapy Centre with Water Treadmill, CET Equine Spa, Solarium and Zamar, Rider Fitness and Performance Suite, two indoor arenas, three outdoor arenas and stabling for over 100 horses. Specialist equipment includes Quintic Gait Analysis software, FLIR Thermal Imaging cameras, Polar Heart Monitors, Televet ECG, Synchronicity Rein Tension Gauges, Noldus Observe XP software and extensive laboratory-based equipment. Riseholmes commercial equine centre hosts an extensive range of regional, national and international competitions, demonstrations and clinics, and is a BHS training and examination centre. The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead, was the dream and brain child of one man - Douglas Bunn. Now run by his family, the showground remains one of the premier equestrian venues in the world. Almost every great show jumper, horse and rider, has competed at Hickstead since we first opened our doors in 1960. In 2010, The All England Jumping Course is now approaching its 60th anniversary as the home of international showjumping in Great Britain. Showing classes at Hickstead almost now out number showjumping, with competitors travelling far and wide to compete at the world famous venue.


Lucton School equestrian centre is set within 14 acres of the beautiful North Herefordshire countryside, with two all-weather areas, and miles of off road hacking. Our staff are BHS qualified, and we have a range of well-schooled horses and ponies to suit all needs. Whether riders are complete beginners, competent riders improving their dressage, jumping, and competition skills, or training towards professional qualifications, we can help them improve their horsemanship in a friendly, encouraging and safe environment.
We are a Pony Club Centre, and alongside their studies, Lucton Students can study BTEC and GCSE qualifications in horse management & stable management. Our sixth formers have the opportunity to study for the BHS Assistant Instructors Certificate.

Summerhouse Equestrian is located in a picturesque part of Gloucestershire in England and one that prides itself as the home of equine excellence. The centre has an extensive offering which is enjoyed by aspiring and elite riders from around the country and internationally. Set up in 1978 by Sheila and John Weston and run by their daughter, Helen Gallop and granddaughters, Sara and Rachel Gallop.
Sara Gallop, a well-known rider on the dressage circuit and trained by both Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester who are based locally, has a number of horses ranging from young horses in training up to International Grand Prix level, all of which have been sourced and produced by Sara from the beginning.
Rachel Gallop competes and trains horses from International young horse classes to Grand Prix level and is a member of the BS International Experience Programme, training under Olympic rider Rowland Ferneyhough & Julie Andrews.
Summerhouse offers advanced training and schoolmaster lessons for the more established rider looking to develop their knowledge and skill, in both Dressage and Jumping, a concept that attracts riders from around the country and abroad.

Riders who choose Summerhouse vary greatly from those who are looking to further their knowledge, take exams, train towards a specific show or just have some fun. The centre hosts over two hundred shows a year and has extensive facilities, including a brand new state of the art water treadmill rehab facility which includes full livery rehabilitation services if required.
The Prestige Training academy boasts some exceptional schoolmasters ranging from Novice to Grand Prix Dressage horses, Novice to 1.30m Show Jumpers and ex Intermediate Eventers and the concept has seen an increase in attracting aspiring riders from around the world.

Bishop Burton Equine Centre has a fantastic range of facilities. These include a range of indoor and outdoor arenas, practical demonstration room, horsewalker, equine treadmill, solarium, equine weightbridge, interactive dressage simulator, rider fitness unit, tackrooms, equine therapy laboratory, cross country courses, equine laundry facilities and a secure off road hacking track. All of the above are available for hire by the hour or day. We have an extensive calendar of events, with local, national and international events, including regular British Eventing, British Showjumping and British Dressage events. We will be hosting British Eventing's 'Festival of Youth’ for five years, starting in July 2020. Accommodation for riders and grooms, as well as horses, is available on site on many occasions. Our Equestrian Centre is a BHS Approved Riding School and Examination Centre. We are a BHS 'Where to Train Centre' up to BHSI level and we are also approved by the ABRS. The Centre is open to the public for riding lessons and offer a wide range of Equine courses, including preparatory courses to get you ready for your BHS exams.
