The Equine department has a wide range of courses for students to study in Further Education and in Higher Education supported by outstanding facilities, including an Olympic standard arena, cross country course and therapy suite with an equine treadmill and solarium. The equine unit is a British Horse Society examination centre and approved by the BHS. We offer a wide range of full-time courses, from BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care to BSc (Hons) Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation, as well as short courses covering Equine First Aid and BHS Preparation for Level 1 and Level 2 exams. Lucton School equestrian centre is set within 14 acres of the beautiful North Herefordshire countryside, with two all-weather areas, and miles of off road hacking. Our staff are BHS qualified, and we have a range of well-schooled horses and ponies to suit all needs. Whether riders are complete beginners, competent riders improving their dressage, jumping, and competition skills, or training towards professional qualifications, we can help them improve their horsemanship in a friendly, encouraging and safe environment.
We are a Pony Club Centre, and alongside their studies, Lucton Students can study BTEC and GCSE qualifications in horse management & stable management. Our sixth formers have the opportunity to study for the BHS Assistant Instructors Certificate.
